BICC NEWS REPORT

With racing now upon us I have to report the good news that membership of the BICC is up by 10% to around 1,200 members. However, some members are still to pay their subscriptions for the year and are therefore urged to do so at the earliest opportunity. Further news is that the proposed Alencon race point has been withdrawn and so the BICC will compete from Fougeres at roughly the same distance on the date of the first proposed Alencon race, and this will be followed up with a race from Le Mans on what was to be the second Alencon event.

We have thirteen National/International races at sprint/middle and long distance. What more could you want from a season's racing?
The annual presentation evening has also been booked up and members are advised to book early as the 2011 bash was filled to capacity with more than 150 members enjoying a wonderful weekend at the Queens Hotel Bournemouth. Those members interested should contact Jan Deacon who is organising and taking bookings for this year's dinner. Tickets are £35 each and a special rate has been negotiated with the management of the Queen's Hotel, this is £45 per person for bed and breakfast for one night. If you would like to make a weekend of it as many fanciers do, then you can enjoy bed and breakfast for the Friday and Saturday nights at £72.50 per person with a three night stay including breakfasts at £112.50 per person. Jan can be contacted on 02392/250322. I should also point out that in 2012 members who compete in the six International races will also be competing for a youngster presented by Steve and Lesley Wright of The House of Aarden. These youngsters will be bred from the principle stud cocks and are valued at £250- £450 each. So the lucky winners of the six International races will have an added bonus!
I have included a photograph of Terry Johnson and John Lane, both winners of the Barcelona race with the BICC plus a photograph of John Lane's Barcelona winner the red cock Young Danny.

This great long distance racer finished at 3rd Open BICC Barcelona in 185 and was 923rd Open International. In 1987 Young Danny won 1st Open BICC in a stinker of a race, also taking 158th Open International against 21,578 pigeons winning an Osman Memorial Trophy two RPRA Awards and the Queen's Coronation Cup for his efforts. I have also included a photo of the trophies that are up for competition within the BICC.

Good luck to you all and here's hoping that you all enjoy your racing in 2012.
